Albert Bichot Chablis Domaine Long-Depaquit 2023

$67.44 $132.18
Description Story Since 1831, The Bichot family has been at the forefront of Burgundy wines. Over the course of 6 generations, the house style has become more and more refined and distinct in elegance. With Albéric Bichot at the helm since 1996, the house has focused its future on quality, minimal intervention winemaking and organic farming. The embodiment of this approach resulted in their 6 domaines being fully organically certified since 2018, while receiving praise and awards on the quality of the wines. In northern Burgundy, not far from Auxerre, the Chablis appellation covers an approximately fifteen-kilometre radius around the village of the same name. It was the monks of the Cistercian abbey of Pontigny who began growing vines in the region. Chablis is located at the south-eastern extremity of the Paris Basin. The grapes used to craft this Chablis at the Domaine Long-Depaquit estate come from a mosaic of terroirs, which lends remarkable complexity to the wine. Specifications Soil – Calcareous and Kimmeridgian clay, Parcel size: Plots totalling 40 haGrape Variety – 100% ChardonnayVatting – In stainless steel vats (100%)Ageing: In stainless steel vats (100%) on fine lees, 10 months Tasting Notes Very pure nose that is typical of Chablis (white flowers, flint) opening up to a palate that boasts an elegant combination of almond notes and lovely vivacity.Food pairing – Keep it classic with this Chablis! Enjoy its freshness as an aperitif or, with a meal, pair it with seafood or fish in order to appreciate its richness.Serve between 9° and 11°C (48°F – 52°F) to best appreciate all of this wine’s freshness and minerality. An easy-drinking wine that is best enjoyed within 3 to 5 years Critic Ratings James Suckling – 90 pointsAn attractive, regular Chablis that has bright dried-pear and apple-ring character, quite generous body, but enough lemon-peel freshness to carry it. Some chalky minerals at the finish.Vinous – 90 pointsA silky, perfumed and open-knit wine with lovely depth to play off the lifted floral aromatics. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and white pepper add brilliance to this racy, polished Chablis.Burghound – 87/89 pointsRipe aromas of both white and yellow orchard fruit are trimmed in notes of petrol and reasonably good Chablis typicity. The lush but nicely vibrant middle weight flavors possess a generously proportioned mouthfeel while displaying solid if not exceptional depth and persistence. 2023 Inside Burgundy – 87/89 pointsMid lemon in colour, not too exotic on the nose, some plums, a little bit saline, fullish bodied and quite long, in fact offering very good persistence. A fine start to the range.
